A Meditation (Extract)
Beach Life
I have a beach. Originally it belonged to my friend George, and his description of it proved so magical I decided to create the same for myself. I have embellished it slightly with time but it still has warm white sand and the turquoise blue of a gently lapping sea.
Obviously it is a tropical beach so that I can be as far from grey skies and rain as is humanly possible. Not that I do not appreciate rain but living in England perhaps I see too much of it at times.
Anyway close your eyes and welcome to my beach.
Feel free to sit yourself down on the sand. There are some palm trees if you require a little shade, as it is quite hot here.
Take off your shoes and wriggle your toes in the sand. It is a comfortable feeling.
You will notice that the sand is warm and quite fine grained.
In front of you a small reef edges the sea so that the larger waves are held at bay.
The water is very clear and richly turquoise with traces of a darker blue as you draw closer to the reef.
A breeze is blowing gently through the palm trees lightly brushing your cheek.
Take a deep breath and smell the slight tang of ozone mixed with the perfume of the tropical flowers.
There is no need to do anything here but sit.
To the left and to the right of you there is nobody but yourself. This is a place to just be.
If you feel a little energetic you can take a leisurely stroll to the waters edge and wash the sand off of your toes.
There is one spot where a few pebbles show just under the water and sometimes there are shells there to pick up.
The choice is open to you what you do with your time here. But what you must not do its think about your problems or the happenings of the day. All your focus must be on the beach or you will find yourself rapidly back in the world of reality.
I recommend at least ten minutes a day spent on the beach for all those that are having a stressful time.
