| This is one of our taught meditations. The best way to use it is to tape the words leaving a pause between the sentences. I leave the length of the pauses up to you as only you can determine how much time you wish to visualise the scene. Settle yourself comfortable and play it back! It is designed to get you back in touch with nature and living things and is useful after a stressful day at work.Woodland Walk This is a commonly used meditative exercise but I find most teachers have customised part of it to suit their particular needs, and maybe even their location. After all woodlands do vary from country to country
This woodland is an English one. If you are not in England then feel free to change the trees around to suit yourself. It’s a warm day, perhaps a little too humid.
We have walked down a lane towards the woods.
The shade appears very inviting.
A small path runs into the woods. There are some brambles at the entrance to it so be careful they do not snag your clothes.
Hazel trees and a few Beech trees make up the beginnings of the wood.
There are a few nuts already ripening on the hazels.
It smells very fresh as we enter with that peculiar mix of loam, moss and rotted leaves.
A green earthy smell.
Enjoy the silence for a moment.
But is it silent I heard a robin, yes there he is on that branch to the right.
Lets walk on a little further.
Careful of the tree root on the left.
When we first came in I was certain it was silent but now I can hear more birds as my ears adjust.
We are coming to a copse of oak trees.
There is a small glade here and one large oak tree has fallen. It is the perfect place to sit and rest for a while after all that walking.
Be very still and maybe we shall see some deer or even a fox.
The sun is slanting through the upper canopy of trees and midges are dancing in the beam.
Some bluebells are growing on the edge of the glade and the colour looks like a hazy blue sky.
A squirrel has stopped to look at us. Maybe next time we should bring some peanuts for him.
Well we have sat long enough it is time to go back
Brush the bark off your trousers.
It is only a short walk back to the lane.
